Kinablit refers to the traditional way of guitar playing among Filipinos which used to be more prevalent among the Visayan speaking regions of the Philippines.  The 2nd Cebu International Guitar Festival aims to correlate the different plucking traditions that can be found in various countries where the guitar developed according to the customs of the populace: Flamenco guitar in Spain, Bossa Nova in Brazil to name a few.  It is sad to know that our very own Kinablit is on the verge of extinction.  One of the reasons of the festival is to revive Kinablit by encouraging a new generation of artists to compose and perform materials that celebrate our cultural identity.
