Cebu, Philippines — The Visayas Art Fair marks its 5th year on November 13–16, 2025, at Oakridge Business Park, celebrating the theme “Infinite Perspectives: Unbound Creativity.”
Organized by the Cebu Culture, Art, and Design Foundation,
Inc. (CCAD) under Lorenza “Laurie” Boquiren, the fair continues its mission of
bridging creativity, culture, and community across the islands. This milestone
edition deepens its partnership with the National Commission for Culture and
the Arts (NCCA) and expands collaborations with regional art organizations and
collectives—reinforcing its role as a unifying platform for Filipino artistry.
The 2025 Featured Artist of the Year is Gil Francis Maningo,
celebrated for his mastery of gold leaf and his profound influence on Cebu’s
creative landscape. His works—anchored by his recurring Visayan muse Carmela—reflect both spiritual depth and
technical brilliance, embodying the Visayan spirit of creativity and
resilience.
A highlight of this year’s fair is “PASINAYA: A Back-to-Back
Exhibition of Gil Francis Maningo and Danny Rayos del Sol.” This dual showcase
explores gold leaf as a medium of light, faith, and transcendence. Maningo’s
opulent, emotive portraits stand in luminous dialogue with Rayos del Sol’s
Marian-inspired works, together offering a profound meditation on the sacred
and the sublime.
At the heart of the Visayas Art Fair 2025 is the Art
Exhibition at the 12th Floor Studio, running for four days as the main
highlight of the event. This expansive showcase will feature a diverse range of
visual art forms—from paintings and sculptures to mixed media and contemporary
installations. Participating galleries, collectives, and independent artists
from the Visayas and Mindanao will present their works alongside selected
galleries from NCR and international exhibitors from Korea, creating a dynamic
dialogue between regional and global creative expressions. This convergence of
artistic voices underscores the fair’s theme, “Infinite Perspectives: Unbound
Creativity,” celebrating art’s power to connect, inspire, and transcend
boundaries.
Beyond the main exhibition, creative installations will
enliven the gardens of Oakridge Business Park, featuring an eclectic mix of
sculptures, crocheted star mandalas, a motorcycle centerpiece, and more. These
outdoor displays will transform the space into an open-air gallery that
celebrates the vibrant heritage and contemporary culture of the Visayas. True
to the fair’s spirit of collaboration, this year also emphasizes cross-sector
partnerships—bringing together artists, designers, government institutions,
academia, and private enterprises to foster creative dialogue and shared growth
within the regional art ecosystem.
The Visayas Art Fair 2025 is not just an exhibition, it is a
movement that continues to shape the future of the creative industries in the
Visayas and beyond. As one of the country’s most anticipated cultural
gatherings, the fair invites everyone to witness the convergence of artists,
curators, and visionaries who continue to redefine the meaning of artistic
connection across islands.
The Visayas Art Fair is excited to introduce our
installation arts for this year:
- James Doran-Webb
Renowned British-born sculptor James
Doran-Webb brings his extraordinary driftwood creations to the Visayas Art Fair
2025, showcasing his masterful blend of artistry, movement, and sustainability.
Famous for his life-sized animal figures crafted from reclaimed driftwood
gathered along Philippine shores, Doran-Webb’s works capture the raw beauty and
vitality of nature. Each piece embodies strength, grace, and environmental
consciousness—an inspiring tribute to the harmony between art and ecology, and
a captivating highlight of this year’s fair.
- Crochet Group of Cebu
Standing tall as a symbol of
creativity and community, “Mga Bituon sa Pasko” is a 25-foot crochet Christmas
tree crafted by the Cebu Crochet Group in partnership with Oakridge Business
Park and the Visayas Art Fair. Adorned with hundreds of handmade crochet stars,
parol-inspired motifs, and vibrant mandalas, it embodies the Cebuano holiday
spirit and the colors of Sinulog. Created through the collective effort of 40
artists, this masterpiece celebrates artistry, collaboration, and the enduring
warmth of Cebuano tradition.
- Raymund Fernandez
At the Visayas Art Fair 2025,
Raymund L. Fernandez and Estela Ocampo Fernandez present two thought-provoking
exhibitions that trace the artist’s evolving dialogue with identity, aging, and
society. In “Simbako Palayo” and “Ten Days in Amsterdam,” Fernandez
unveils deeply personal works reflecting two years of creative exploration and
self-discovery—visual meditations that invite viewers to find meaning beyond
words. Complementing these is “Hilum Pa
sa Karatola,” an outdoor showcase of reimagined street and traffic signs
inspired by Marcel Duchamp’s idea that “the artist only needs to point.” The
installation transforms everyday urban symbols into witty reflections on order,
confusion, and contemporary life, guiding audiences through a new landscape
where direction meets introspection.
- Harley Davidson Motorcycles with Anton Quisumbing
As Harley-Davidson of Cebu
celebrates its 10α΅Κ° anniversary, it commemorates a decade of passion,
brotherhood, and freedom—now fused with Cebuano creativity. Teaming up with
artists Anton Quisumbing and Anthony Fermin, the dealership transforms a custom
Harley into a moving work of art that embodies faith, culture, and
craftsmanship. The collaborative piece will debut at the Visayas Art Fair 2025
before taking its place at the Harley-Davidson of Cebu Showroom, honoring ten
years of artistry, community, and life on the open road.
Adding more vibrance to Oakridge, outdoor installations such
as “Freedom Wall & Chalk Art,”
“Banay,” “Carabao & Balsa,” and other interactive displays will animate
the Atrium and Pavilion areas.
