Cebu City — The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has officially launched its Light the World Giving Machines in Cebu, introducing a unique and meaningful avenue for charitable giving during the Christmas season. Cebu City Mayor Nestor Archival attended the ceremony at the The Mall - NUSTAR Cebu on November 28, 2025, as guest of honor, underscoring the city’s support for initiatives that foster compassion and community upliftment.
The Giving Machines—essentially vending machines for charity—allow donors to purchase items such as food packs, hygiene kits, educational materials, and livelihood support for families in need. Instead of buying products for themselves, users choose items that go directly to beneficiaries through partner organizations.
During the program, Elder Carlos G. Revillo, Jr. of the Church shared a message highlighting the spirit of service behind the global Light the World campaign, which encourages individuals to share light through simple, Christlike acts of kindness.
Representatives from Parents Reach Foundation, Kythe Foundation, and Cebu Caritas also delivered remarks, emphasizing how the Giving Machines will broaden their capacity to reach vulnerable communities across Cebu and beyond.
Adding energy to the event were hosts Eric “Eruption” Tai and Xia Vigor, who guided attendees through the launch and encouraged Cebuanos to embrace purposeful giving this holiday season.
The Light the World Giving Machines have been launched in various cities worldwide, and Cebu now joins this global effort to inspire generosity, foster unity, and extend help to those who need it most.
