MANDAUE CITY, PHILIPPINES — February 14, 2026 - As part of its 10th Year Founding Anniversary, Chong Hua Hospital Mandaue formally inaugurated its Heart and Vascular Institute, marking a defining milestone in the evolution of cardiovascular care in the Philippines.

Cardiovascular disease remains the country's leading cause of death, often compounded by delayed access and fragmented care. For more than two decades, Chong Hua Hospital has stood at the center of the national response—serving as a leading cardiovascular referral facility since the founding of the Chong Hua Hospital Cebu Heart Institute in 2003. Over the years, this role has translated into a sustained rise in complex and high-acuity cases referred by physicians and partner institutions nationwide.

The opening of the Heart and Vascular Institute in Mandaue is a direct response to this growing demand—expanding capacity and access to advanced heart and vascular treatment, and enabling more patients to receive timely, comprehensive care closer to home.

Guided by the enduring principles of its parent organization, Association Benevola de Cebu Inc. (ABDCI) —service beyond self, responsible stewardship, and commitment to communities—the Institute was designed as a single, coordinated ecosystem of care, integrating diagnostics, intervention, surgery, critical care, rehabilitation, and prevention within one purpose-built facility.

 

Spanning 2,998 square meters, the Institute enables continuity across the entire cardiac care journey. At its core is a rare Hybrid Cath Lab platform, combining the Philips Azurion 7 R3 Hybrid OR Suite and the Siemens Healthineers ARTIS Icono Cath Lab System, allowing minimally invasive and open procedures to be performed in the same environment—without transferring patients. This configuration supports faster decisions, safer workflows, and improved outcomes for complex cases.

Beyond procedures, the Institute includes dialysis-ready Coronary Care Unit (CCU) beds, comprehensive cardiac rehabilitation services, and advanced diagnostic support—ensuring recovery and long-term prevention are embedded into care.
