Cebu's rapidly growing pickleball community is coming together for a cause that extends far beyond the court. Through a series of fundraising events culminating in the Two-Day Pickleball Fundraising Tournament benefiting Operation Smile Philippines, players, corporate partners, families, and community leaders are joining forces to help provide life-changing surgeries for Filipino children born with cleft lip, cleft palate, and other facial differences.
The centerpiece of the campaign is the Two-Day Pickleball Fundraising Tournament, which will be held on October 17–18, 2026, at The Courts of Cebu. The event is expected to welcome 56 teams and about 360 athletes, making it one of the largest team pickleball tournaments in the region. Matches will be played on eight competition courts from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. on both days. The tournament opens on October 17 with the Corporate Team Challenge and the Smiles Club Team Championships, bringing together business organizations, professionals, executives, and pickleball clubs in friendly competition. Team registration is ₱8,000 per team of 4 players. On October 18, the spotlight turns to the Family & Friends Team Championship, inviting families, friends, clubs, workplaces, and community organizations to compete while supporting a shared mission of giving children a brighter future. Registration is ₱10,000 per team of 6 players. Beyond the tournament, organizers will host a Fundraising Gala Night on August 8, 2026, at the Grand Ballroom of NUSTAR Resort Cebu. The elegant evening will officially launch the fundraising campaign and bring together business leaders, philanthropists, healthcare advocates, and members of the sporting community in support of Operation Smile Philippines. Guests will enjoy a curated four-course dinner, world-class entertainment, and a charity auction, with proceeds directly benefiting Operation Smile Philippines and its mission of providing free reconstructive surgeries and comprehensive care for children with cleft conditions. The gala aims not only to raise vital funds but also to inspire greater awareness of the life-changing impact that every donation can make. "Every child deserves the chance to smile with confidence," the organizers shared. "Through the generosity of our sponsors, participants, donors, and guests, we hope to give more children access to the surgeries and medical care that can transform their lives."
For decades, Operation Smile Philippines has provided free, safe surgical care and multidisciplinary treatment to thousands of Filipino children, helping them overcome not only physical challenges but also the social and emotional barriers often associated with facial differences. The organization continues to rely on the generosity of individuals, volunteers, corporate partners, and communities to bring hope to families across the country.
The fundraising campaign reflects the values that have made pickleball one of the fastest-growing sports in the Philippines—community, inclusivity, and teamwork. By combining sport with philanthropy, the organizers hope to demonstrate that every serve, every rally, every bid, and every act of generosity can help change a child's future.
Corporations, pickleball clubs, families, civic organizations, and individuals are invited to participate in the tournament, attend the gala, become event partners, or support the fundraising campaign. Together, they can help ensure that more Filipino children receive the gift of a healthy smile and a brighter tomorrow.
