Manila, Philippines — NUSTAR Resort
Cebu, the Philippines’ premier integrated resort destination in the Visayas and
Mindanao, has been named “Hotel of the Year” at the 7th Philippine Sports
Tourism Awards, held at the Marriott Grand Ballroom in Pasay City last August
24, 2026.
The recognition marks NUSTAR’s first
win at the Philippine Sports Tourism Awards, highlighting the resort’s growing
role in positioning Cebu as a destination for sports tourism. NUSTAR was
recognized for its efforts in hosting and supporting major sporting events,
providing world-class hospitality and event facilities for athletes and sports
enthusiasts, and creating opportunities that bring sports and tourism together
in Cebu.
“We are very proud of this
achievement, which further advances our vision of putting a global spotlight on
Cebu and positioning it as a premier sports tourism destination. At NUSTAR, we
want to be an integral part of the Cebu journey by creating exceptional
experiences across hospitality, entertainment, dining, and shopping. This is a
victory not only for NUSTAR, but for the whole of Cebu,” said Mr. Sean Knights,
Chief Operating Officer of NUSTAR Resort Cebu.
The award comes as NUSTAR continues to
expand its portfolio of sports tourism events. Last August 23, 2026, NUSTAR
staged the first-ever NUSTAR Run, further strengthening its roster of sporting
events and community experiences. Following the success of its inaugural
edition last year, the NUSTAR Dragon Boat Regatta is also set to return on
September 19 to 20, 2026, bringing race teams from across the country and
overseas to Cebu.
Beyond hosting sporting competitions,
NUSTAR provides an integrated destination experience that brings together
entertainment, accommodation, dining, retail, leisure, and event facilities,
offering athletes, teams, organizers, and spectators a seamless experience
before, during, and after sporting events while giving them another way to
complete their Cebu journey.
The Philippine Sports Tourism Awards
is an annual event that recognizes notable industry leaders, organizations, and
movers who contribute to the growth and development of sports tourism in the
country.
