CEBU CITY — What began as a single hotel in Cebu 12 years ago has grown into a hospitality portfolio that is now moving beyond traditional hotel accommodation.
Bayfront Hotel Cebu opened North Reclamation on September 7, 2014, followed by Capitol Site on September 7, 2021. Its newest venture, Bayfront CoLive+, opened on October 3, 2025, expanding the company’s reach into a more flexible, lifestyle-oriented accommodation segment. The move reflects how the way people travel, work and live continues to change.
“We cannot simply stay with what we have been doing for the past 12 years,” said Charlton Cokaliong, Founder & President of Bayfront Hotel Cebu. “The market continues to evolve, and we also have to evolve with it.”
That approach has helped Bayfront maintain its occupancy levels despite challenging conditions in the tourism sector.
A Journey That Started Somewhere Else Hospitality was not Cokaliong’s original industry. A certified public accountant by profession, he spent 23 years in textile retail before entering the hotel business, with the support of his mother, Gregoria Cokaliong. What began as one property has since developed into a growing hospitality portfolio. Built by People, Supported by Guests Behind the growth are employees who have helped shape Bayfront over the past 12 years. Some remain with the company today, while others have moved on to new opportunities. “Everyone who has been part of Bayfront has contributed to where we are today,” Cokaliong said. “We are thankful to those who continue to work with us and equally grateful to those who have moved on. Their contribution will always be part of our journey.” Bayfront also recognizes its loyal patrons, many of whom have returned over the years. “Our guests have been, and continue to be, a very important part of our story,” Cokaliong said. “We are grateful for their loyalty and for choosing Bayfront through the years.”
What Comes Next The company is currently conceptualizing another hotel project, adding another dimension to its growing portfolio. “Twelve years ago, Bayfront began with one hotel,” Cokaliong said. “Today, our portfolio includes hotels and co-living, and we are excited about what we can still build.” From hotels to co-living spaces and beyond, Bayfront’s next chapter is taking shape.
